Today is the Grand Opening Party for Lola’s Saloon in the Stockyards. The latest venture by Brian Forella brings alt-country acts to the Stockyards.
I got a sneak peek look at Lola’s Saloon a few weeks ago and it has a swank, retro, western feel. The underground, if you blink you miss it entrance, give it a secretive, Speak-easy feel.
Lipstick red booths look perfect for enjoying live music and drinks.
The stage is punctuate by a luscious, red velvet curtain.
The underground locale and long bar remind me of one of my past favorite bars, The Black Dog (RIP). The bar area has pub style tables and chairs. There’s even some comfy leather couches near the stage area.
Could this be the start of something big(ger) for the Stockyards? I have to admit I only go to the Stockyards every so often to The Love Shack (review coming soon) and the White Elephant or when I have out of town visitors to entertain. Lola’s along with Forella’s newly opened Longhorn Saloon could bring a wider audience to the Stockyards (other than cowboys and bikers). Looking at the impressive acts booked at the Longhorn I might have to be hitting the Stockyards more often now (Billy Joe Shaver in March). Which makes me wonder how well the Lola’s crowd will mix with the Stockyards crowd, only time will tell at this point. In the meantime, the Stockyards offers plenty of places to eat – like The Love Shack, so you could make a whole evening of it.
And don’t forget to leave a tip in the boot!!!
Tonight’s Grand Opening Party at Lola’s in the Stockyards features The Josh Weather’s Band and FREE food and drinks (while supplies last). Doors open at 8PM, show starts at 9PM, No Cover.
